Additionally, this map pack will implement the death cam, a feature showing you how you died and who shot you, and allowing you to see the game through the remaining players. This pack is still in development, aiming for a release at the end of July or beginning of August. http://ghostrecon.com/us/newspost.php?id=16089

Frontlines: Fuel Of War

FrontlinesFrontlines: Fuel of War is an open world, infantry- and vehicle-based FPS (First Person Shooter) featuring advanced next-gen weaponry in a desperate, near future setting where controlling the planet’s depleting fossil resources determines the ultimate fate of civilization. A global war for oil is being waged between two superpowers, the Western Coalition (US/EU) and the Red Star Alliance (Russia/China), and players will be instrumental in determining how the war is waged — and won. The single player campaign will focus on this powerful storyline as players’ execute missions focused on non-linear gameplay, moving their frontline through enemy held territory. 3dgamers

Huxley-a massively multiplayer first-person shooter

928181_20060411_screen002.jpg
Online role-playing games are easily the rage right now, especially considering that a game like World of Warcraft has more than 6 million subscribers. However, online first-person shooters are an entirely different story. We’re not talking about conventional shooters that can be played online with 16, or even 64, players. Rather, we’re talking about online shooters that allow thousands of players to interact online and potentially hundreds to battle it out among one another. While there have been a handful of attempts to date to make an online first-person shooter, none have taken off. However, there’s a new game on the horizon from South Korea’s Webzen that has captured a lot of attention. Huxley is an online first-person shooter that has an unusual name, as well as some amazing visuals, judging from the early screens released thus far. Based on Unreal Engine 3 technology, Huxley looks to meld first-person shooter gameplay with the scale and scope of an online game.

“Returning to the core values of Rainbow Six”

media.jpg

The teenage years haven’t been good to Rainbow Six. After starting off extremely strong with its first few games, the franchise has veered down the expansion pack after expansion pack route recently. Now, knowing where the series has been and what it has become, imagine our relief when upon meeting the Rainbow Six next-gen developers, the first words out of their mouths were that they are “returning to the core values of Rainbow Six.” With the team that worked on Rainbow Six 3 behind it, including senior producer Chadi Lebbos and lead game designer Maxime Béland, things seem to be looking bright for Rainbow Six: Vegas (and not just because of the lights on the Vegas Strip). And to tie in with Electronic Gaming Monthly’s exclusive first look at the game in the April issue of the magazine (in stores now), we now have a few extra details to share online. more..

Could this be good news? :Ubisoft announced it has secured all rights to the first-person shooter series, which was created by German developer CryTek. Though financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, it covers both the intellectual property itself and “a perpetual license to use the CryENGINE Far Cry Edition.” The graphics-intensive CryENGINE is the basis of all Far Cry games, the console versions of which were developed at Ubisoft Montreal.

3/29/2006 - Ubisoft acquires all intellectual property rights for Far Cry and will take the Far Cry Edition of the Cry Engine to the next level. Today’s deal was seen as a preemptive measure to secure the popular license in the wake of CryTek’s long-term development deal with megapublisher and Ubisoft-archrival Electronic Arts. The first game to be published under that agreement, the military sci-fi shooter Crysis, recently made waves at the Game Developers’ Conference via an impressive PC demo.

Crysis

Crysis

crysis

SAN JOSE, Calif.–Two years after bursting on the scene with the acclaimed first-person shooter FarCry, German developer Crytek is out dropping jaws once again with the first glimpse of Crysis, the company’s second game. There’s a technical trailer of Crysis being shown at the Game Developers Conference that is simply blowing everyone away with its visions of incredibly lush and realistic jungle combat. And this first glimpse is doubly impressive considering that Crytek seemed to have disappeared off the face of the earth after signing a publishing deal with EA in 2004. Needless to say, we needed to learn more, so we were able to sit down with Cevat Yerli, the president and CEO of Crytek, to get the first details on Crysis.

Rainbow Six is back and better than ever

vegas_header_right.jpg

“Rainbow Six is back and better than ever,” said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft. “Building upon the online success of the Rainbow Six franchise and harnessing the power of the next-generation experience, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas will be the benchmark against which all next-generation games will be measured. With Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter being released this month to wide critical acclaim, and Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent also due out this year, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Vegas makes it a perfect trifecta for the Clancy series in 2006.”
